Goa-based Blockchain Entrepreneur Jason Fernandes conferred with Karmaveer Chakra Award

Digital Goa, Dec 2 : Goa-based Blockchain Entrepreneur and Crypto market analyst Jason Fernandes was conferred with the prestigious Karmaveer Chakra Award and REX Karmaveer Global Fellowship at the REX CONCLiVE 2019 held in Noida on November 27. He was awarded for his work for promoting the use of Blockchain Technology for Social/Financial inclusion and also his early work with Learning Disabled kids through LDKids.org.   “I’m delighted that this technology is being recognized- through my initiative with TokenJay TV- I hope to continue to use my platform to promote the cause of Blockchain and Fintech for good,”  sais Jason.

This year’s Karamveer Chakra awardees represent 10 plus countries from across the globe and were finalized after a rigorous selection process. These awards seek to celebrate and inspire individual citizen social responsibility, justice, and action, and are held on the day the Indian Constitutional Pledge was signed.

He now joins the family of past awardees including (former Indian President) Dr. A.P.J. Kalam, Dr Verghese Kurien (Father of White Revolution), Actors Anupam Kher and Kajol (for social work) and Goan musician Remo Fernandes.

About the Karmaveer Chakra

The Karmaveer Chakra Award is a National People’s Award for Citizen Social Action and a global civilian honours instituted by the United Nations and International Confederation of NGOs (iCONGO). It is given to those people across the globe who show relentless courage by walking the path less trodden and initiating a wave of change in society. The award is a tribute to the Honorable Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, 11th President of India, who had offered to be the ambassador for the awards. All the awardees are dubbed Noble Laureates and REX Karmaveer Global Fellows.

Spotting the future of finance

An early proponent of Blockchain and digital currency, Fernandes has been writing about Blockchain technology (Specifically Bitcoin) since 2013, when Bitcoin was valued at just $13.25[1]– today its price hovers around $7800 (a 57,000% increase). He followed that up with multiple columns for GlobeAsia including July 2013’s “Bitcoin and the Future of Money” and “The Bitcoin Curse” in April 2014. A frequent speaker at international Blockchain conferences, Fernandes is also a bi-weekly expert analyst guest on the Crypto Now Show on for Bloxlive TV, Malta.

Award winning work- promoting Blockchain for Good

Fernandes was also a featured speaker at the 2019 REX CONCLiVE event where he spoke about the potential of Blockchain technology to build a more sustainable society supporting the PPP principle – people, planet and profit. He also spoke about his work at Neco Finance, a Berlin registered non-profit dedicated to addressing global challenges including debt, poverty and climate change. For just over a year, as ICO Manager and Investment Circle lead, he helped create a stable currency that provides funding for global solutions to ecological, social and economic problems. He is also a lead advisor on SynLedger, a Blockchain-based global peer to peer, electric vehicle charging infrastructure project.

TokenJay.TV and next steps

Fernandes will soon be launching a new digital media channel TokenJay.TV focused on promoting people and companies using Blockchain and related technologies to make the world a more sustainable and inclusive place.

He is due to speak again on the subject of “Blockchain for Good” at Convergence 2020 in February 19-21 at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi.  Launched in 1999 and in partnership with the Indian Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Digital India and Niti Aayog, Convergence India is India’s leading Technology expo.
